Background

The Academic Board is reviewed on a septennial basis, in accordance with the requirements of the Higher Education Standards Framework 2021. The last review was held in 2014.

The review will take place in late 2021 (dates to be confirmed).

Under section 35(3) of the University of Queensland Act 1998,  the Academic Board must:

  1. advise Senate about teaching, scholarship and research matters concerning the University;
  2. formulate proposals for the academic policies of the University;
  3. monitor the academic activities of the University’s faculties; and
  4. promote and encourage scholarship and research at the University.

Further information about the structure and role of the Academic Board is available in PPL 1.30.03 Academic Board Policy.

A review committee will be convened to read submissions, interview stakeholders, and draft a review report with recommendations for the Academic Board.
