The Academic Board is reviewed on a septennial basis, in accordance with the requirements of the Higher Education Standards Framework 2021. The last review was held in 2014. 

The review will take place in late 2021 (dates to be confirmed).

Under section 35(3) of the University of Queensland Act 1998,  the Academic Board must:

  1. advise Senate about teaching, scholarship and research matters concerning the University;
  2. formulate proposals for the academic policies of the University;
  3. monitor the academic activities of the University’s faculties; and
  4. promote and encourage scholarship and research at the University.

A review committee will be convened to read submissions, interview stakeholders, and draft a review report with recommendations for the Academic Board.

Making a submission

Interested parties may make a submission to the review committee by 5.00pm on 5 November 2021. 

If you would like to make a submission, please consider the Terms of Reference (PDF, 118 KB) for the review and provide your comments on the Academic Board or its committees and their activities based on your own knowledge and experience. If you are not familiar with all the matters addressed by the terms of reference, you can respond only to those terms that apply to your knowledge and experience.

Requesting confidentiality

Anyone who would like to request that their identity not be shared outside of the review committee can submit a Request for Confidentiality form (PDF, 642.6 KB). The contents of your submission will still be disclosed, but we will make every effort to remove information that will reveal your identity.

Suggested format for submissions

A document with the suggested format for a submission and a template to respond to the terms of reference (DOCX, 27 KB) is available, but is intended to be guidance only. There are no restrictions on the format of submissions.
